Last October, I was privileged to be asked to visit Ghana to carry out an evaluation of the peacebuilding work of a West African organisation, SEND, working in the NE of the country.

Meeting with elders

Having never travelled in West Africa before it was not with a little excitement that I stepped off the plane and travelled into the bush. Facilitated by SEND, I spent time meeting local chiefs, elders, youth, entrepeneurs, farmers and many local people who told me about their daily lives and the challenges they face.

CHIPS Borehole Maintenance Project

Recently purchased borehole maintenance equipment is now being put to use to enable Karimojong and Iteso communities in the vicinity of Namendera and Okoboi to maintain and repair their boreholes.

In the past, half of the boreholes in the area have often been non-operational at any one time due to a lack of maintenance, spare parts and knowledge of borehole repair. This means that thousands of people in the area often have to rely on dirty surface water sources.
